I realize there are a lot of questions about the server reset, and what that means to everyone. For one thing, your ship(s) will definitely be moved over. And if you have a station that you have built or customized a great deal, we can save that as well. I know there are questions about credits and inventory, so if you are concerned about that, please post to this thread.
We are trying to make as fun as experience as we can for everyone. Unfortunately StarMade has quite a few growing pains and we have to adapt to those changes and try to make it fair for everyone. So if you have questions here is a place you can ask the admins and get answers. Also, suggestions for fixing design issues with the universe can also be suggested here if you like.

my only questions are: The server reset will be done shortly after the next update? How much notice will we have? Do we need to do anything special like position our ships?
Will inventory stored in storage cubes transfer? Will turrets retain their settings?

We will open a new map a couple days after the update to give the DEVs a chance to fix any issues that pop up. The new map and the current one will be up at the same time for an easier transition. We will move everything over via sector export so all your inventory items will get transferred over. So go to a shop, spend all your credits, then put all your stuff into storage blocks on your ship and or station. Find a nice empty sector to park in and we will port your stuff over. Turrets should retain their settings.

My questions are: Can we port multiple sectors over, just so that they are in similar positions to each other? ( I have a warpgate 20km from my colony.) Does credit transfer?

Credits do NOT transfer. so as TIME said, spend it. put the bought stuff in a storage aboard your ship and or station, give us the coords of your export. we'll move your stuff over. I still advise anyone keep a list of the stuff you have.

Yes multiple sectors will be allowed, but only if you have substantial holdings in each sector.

If you do not have a station yet, ask someone if you can leave your ship in their sector when they do the sector save. Make sure all your inventory is in plex storage so you don't lose it. When the sector gets ported over, you get your ship and good to go.
If needed, I'm sure staff will allow you to park at spawn when it gets ported over.

Hey pilots. Just wanted to bump this and let you know this is a good place for player suggestions for the server reset as well.

What about setting max speed to 30 km/h and making everyone super-reliant on jump drives? (Yes, no strictly reset matter)

When will the reset happen?
There will be two maps at once, and it will be that way until everyone transfers, if I understood that correctly?

All kinds of ideas are welcome.
We will have both servers open for several days/weeks. Players should save their ships and stations when the reset is imminent (we don't know when that is going to take place exactly) and we'll move them over.

If the number of shops is being reduced (no randomly generated ones) can we make sure the existing ones are well stocked (if not with items, at least with money.)
Ive been to 4 stations that had no cash to buy, and few to no items to sell to the player. In that circumstance the shop is worthless.
I understand having the admins restock the shops everyday would be a bit game breaking and not in keeping with RP (as well as annoying). But these are massive Space Stations representing organizations that (usually) span multiple solar systems. Its not unreasonable to assume they would have billions of credits in reserve in their primary stations.
As long as there is enough cash, players can buy/sell to maintain shop inventory items. I don't think the admins should be replacing/restocking "items" unless it is a dire need or circumstance.
Edit: Question about "restocking". Does this return the station to a preset value? (essentially reset it?) Or will it only add items until certain predefined thresholds are met? For example: A station does not by default carry blue armor. I drift up and sell it 500 pieces of blue armor. The station is then "restocked" via an admin. Will that blue armor still be there? Or did the "restocking" remove it from the station because it is not sold by default?

My personal take is shops are NOT going to be fully stocked. They are not Walmarts. Part of the economy that is fashioned into the game is player run shops. If a certain block can not be found, then they should be made. Crafting is an important part of the game.
HOWEVER, we admins can adjust that part of the game as necessary. If absolutely no one wants to do crafting, we can talk about altering that part of the game. But we need to hear from you players.
As with any economy, supply and demand play an important role in pricing. You may find that one state sells items for a different price than the other and you could make some money by buying and selling between the two. Or you could corner the market on certain items and then you could control the price to other players. There will also be missions where players will be tasked with finding, buying, mining or manufacturing certain 'supplies' (blocks) for a certain state. Like when Blackline ran out of water.
Does this help?

I just meant to point out that if the shop has no item, and no money with which to buy the item off players that's a problem, that requires some sort of "intervention"

Also, shops will be restocked from time to time. With credits and blocks.
