Hey guys, I have some questions about blocks and the game equations.
I know specific numbers wont be the same since they can be server specific. However others, such as how Energy-Regen is calculated is always the same. The sum of the X, Y, and Z lengths of the axis-aligned bounding box that contains the generator group effecting efficient regen.
So: Energy Generation: The sum of the X, Y, and Z lengths of the axis-aligned bounding box that contains the generator group effecting efficient regen. Example of "perfect" efficiency: a long string, or any shape that maximizes the bounding box.
Energy Storage: The more connected block regardless of shape or dimension, the more efficient. One group of 10 is more efficient than 2 groups of 5. Example of "perfect" energy storage: A cube that maximizes capacitors that have sides touching.
Shield Generation*: Shape should not matter. Blocks do not need to touch. Shield Capacity*: Shape should not matter. Blocks do not need to touch. *(previously shield blocks in "groups" did matter, but it seems that is no longer the case? Finding definite/current details is hard. Seriously ive looked through 10 pages of Dev notes, and still don't have a definite answer.)
Jump Drive: minimum 1 Jump Drive block per 20 mass. Shape should not matter, but blocks must be touching.
Other: Cloaking: Requires 1000 e/sec for every 1 mass.

Is the above information correct as far as you know? I'm going to do some detailed testing tonight.

the stuff on power is correct, but the bonus you gain per shape in minimal on this server. the box dimensions work better for small ships and really big ones. Medium to large ships do better with long lines of power.
shields/shield recharge gives you the same output no matter how they are stacked.
the stuff on cloaking and jump drive is wrong. Drive blocks do not need to be touching ( lest I don't think ) and cloaking takes 7 e/s per block on the ship
I wouldn't worry too much about figuring out the numbers... they are subject to tweaking and change.

I'm not too picky, but it effects my grouping(checkered vs solid, how stuff is grouped).. Even a small difference can add up.
