I can recognize the first part with the picture...if you are meaning the great revelation about the dead french soldier before him also being human with wife and children....else wise I wouldn't be able to recognize it as a trailer for the book.

Yeah it was rushed. The part with the red stuff rolling across the field is supposed to be the poison gas in the book. Tbh it was more of a generic WW1 animation, but it's still better than some of the others I've seen....

Still, if it should be a trailer to the book then you pretty much missed your target, no offense, just my opinion and I really loved that book.

I know, but hey I had to finish it in one day.... was really rushed. Besides, to focus on the "daily life" and other parts in the book would require too much time which I didn't have; in this end product I had only 20 seconds of pictures, and less than 10 seconds of animation and I still had to cram like hell. I originally had a 2 minute idea that would've incorporated more elements of the actual book but it ended up too much for me to handle; I had to animate, edit, storyboard and do pretty much everything alone.

Then you might have been better advised with taking one special scene out of the book...like the part with the dead french soldier, maybe him death with a gasmask and unmasked with the family on the picture...something like that. A before/after with their teacher would have been equally well.
