Brief Lore rundown:
Rodina Class Frigate was the Russian Confederation's Light Scout vessel in the centuries leading up to the formation of the Terran Hegemony. The smallest ship that could be depended on for journeys of any duration, they were usually used for exploration and harassment missions. The six light torpedoes were a dire threat to enemy shipping, stations, and planetary targets, but the fact that there were only six of them (plus 10 reloads) Limited the Rodina's ability to defeat entire fleets from extreme range as the tactics of the day indicated. Usually all six would be launched at the same target if there was any chance that the target would be alert. The ship's limited crew and shuttle capacity also meant that she was not used for occupation or enforcement duties. Her strengths were that she was, for the time, quite inexpensive, had AMAZING sensor capabilities, and an unprecedented level of comfort and range.
The heavy cannon worked well to subdue planets by orbital bombardment, for all that its fire control was primitive for space-to-space engagements. The dual autocannon turret was adequate for anti-missile duty or to take a piece off of any small defense fighters that strayed too close. The torpedoes were the smallest made, but could still take out six ships in ambush (or maybe one in a stand up fight).
The second generation fusion reactors provided unprecedented levels of power for their size, but tended to be unstable and needed constant maintenance to keep in operation. The engines were simple fusion models, and could run forever.
No one knows how many Rodinas were produced, but historians note that in the first great wave of exploration, nearly half of all systems discovered Pre-hegemony were by Rodina class frigates, and the first recorded successful transit of a wormehole was done accidentally by one due to a navigation error.
